Wreaths Across America

To volunteer your time to place wreaths at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery please join us on a designated Saturday in December at 11:30 a.m. for a briefing to address the volunteers and instructions. After the briefing the volunteers are lined up behind the trucks and handed wreaths for placement. When you place the wreath please remember you may be the first person to visit this grave in years so take time to read the stone and honor the memory of that hero. The final ceremony will take place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at 12 noon.

John Reno, www.johnreno.com/

John is one of the top Trop Rock singer/songwriters in the country. In high demand and always on the go. He does a Jim Croce tribute show but at this house concert he will do mostly his own songs and a couple of Jim Croce songs.

In 2011 John Reno and John Patti were in a Folgers Coffee commercial competition where out of several thousand entrants they were in the final 5. They performed in New York for the final live show competition. We believe they should have won but the judges had to make a tough call.

John has been a finalist for the Trop Rock Music Awards in multiple categories numerous times over the years. His unique vocals and instrumentals set him apart from most performers. A few years ago John was working a regular job and after performing for several years part-time decided to just quit his job and become a full-time musician. And as they say, the rest is history. His video “Big Ol Johnson” has over half a million hits on You Tube and is one of his most requested songs. Be sure to catch John on his first appearance in this area.

Take Me Out To The Ballpark

Chesapeake Parrot Head Club is going to the ballpark for a tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards! A few weeks ago we told you to hold the date of Saturday, June 8, 2013. The cost is $6 per person, and everyone is invited. The tour will begin at 2:45pm and afterwards anyone who wants to can go with us around the corner to Dempseys. Payment for this tour can be made by cash or check (made payable to the Orioles). Please let us know if you would like to join us so we know if we get a full tour.

Thursday Is The New Friday

We are trying something new – socials/happy hour will be “Thursday is the new Friday”. From time to time we will have events on days other than Thursday. The next social event will be on Thursday, February 21 at Jilly’s in Ellicott City with our own John Patti on the steel drums and Dennis McCaughey from PA. We are working on a schedule that gets us more into the Baltimore area after the February social. Make sure you add them to your calendar and join us for fun and frivolity! See below for things you can bring if you want to help out.

Next Board Meeting

Our next Board meeting is Tuesday, February 19 at 6:30 at LaPalapa in Ellicott City. We would love to have as many of you as possible join us to discuss club business and/or for friendship. This meeting was moved from February 14 so that our Board could spend Valentine’s Day with the person of their choice and not at a meeting.
